The Orpheus Centre is an independent specialist College in Godstone, Surrey. We focus on developing independence skills through performing and visual arts and make dramatic improvements to young disabled adults’ lives. 

Set up by musician and songwriter Sir Richard Stilgoe, Orpheus offers learning, supported housing and personal care all on the same site in Godstone, Surrey.  We showcase what Orpheus students can offer in the workplace and we challenge the barriers to employment faced by some disabled people.

We are currently seeking an experienced EHCP Support & Annual Review Coordinator to work in close collaboration with our Student Recruitment, Finance and Transitions teams; MIS Administrator, and the Assistant Principal – SENCo.

This role is crucial to ensuring that Orpheus can meet students’ needs as outlined in their EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans) through the EHCP Annual Review process. They will be able to demonstrate progress on the students’ journey from the time of application through to Transition and eventually, leaving Orpheus. 

In particular, the role will provide effective administration and organisation on aspects relating to EHCPs for each of our students, ensuring that EHCP Annual Reviews are held in a timely and professional manner in accordance with statutory legislation.

The job holder will need to be highly organised, computer literate, efficient and motivated; able to take the initiative when required and communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues and local authorities.

35 hours per week / 52 weeks per year [9:00am – 5:00pm]

The post demands a high level of flexibility and ability to adapt the changes due to service needs.

Salary: £26,000 - 27,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Essential qualifications, knowledge and experience:

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs A-C or equivalent including Maths and English
  • Experienced user of Office packages, in particular Word, Excel & Outlook 
  • Minimum 2 years of working in an SEN education setting & experience of learners with EHC plans
  • Experience of arranging and attending EHCP reviews and statutory requirements 
  • Experience using Microsoft Teams
  • Knowledge of GDPR
  • Awareness of health and safety good practices
  • Knowledge and understanding of the roles of local authority case workers & social workers in relation to EHCPs
  • Excellent computer literacy and administrative skills
  • Excellent communication skills including both written and verbal 
  • An ability to present data and information in a clear, concise, understandable way, as required for a range of audiences
  • An ability to multi-task & work under pressure, often to tight deadlines 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with young adults with disabilities / learning difficulties
  • Drive to achieve results – sets own standards, checks own work and demonstrates a positive approach
  • Pro-active approach to problem solving
  • Personable – demonstrating an ability to build relationships and get on well with people from a variety of backgrounds
  • Ability to work well in a team and willing to share ideas and best practice
  • To maintain a high degree of confidentiality at all times
