In memory of Ray Griggs, 1936-2025

Dad’s granddaughter Frankie was lucky enough to attend Orpheus, following a period of illness, where she received tremendous amount of support in transitioning to adulthood, and is now a mother of two.

Orpheus was founded by musician and songwriter Sir Richard Stilgoe in 1997 to start a place where young disabled people and students could work together, to change their own and other people’s lives by creating new music and performing in public.

The Centre began with 5 students and now has 64 students, the highest intake to date. This is a testament to the popularity and need for the specialist education which Orpheus offers.

Students have performed in venues all over the country including the Royal Opera House, Royal Albert Hall, Glastonbury Festival, Notting Hill Carnival, the Paralympic Opening Ceremony, The Royal Festival Hall, and appeared in hit TV show Call The Midwife.

Students have been commissioned by professional art organisations and had their work exhibited. The dancers have performed at many events including the All England Dance 100th Anniversary Gala at the London Coliseum.

Your donation will support young disabled adults achieve their own personal goals dreams.
