Our Values Our values show what’s important to our college, what we prioritise and how we conduct ourselves for both staff and students. We would like to introduce you to JoyBIRD. JOY We celebrate achievements - small and big – celebrating together regularly and frequently. We publicly recognise those whose behaviours demonstrate our values. Orpheus meetings are enjoyable – there is fun and laughter included – and enable us to stay connected as teams and as an organisation We seek opportunities to trigger joy, welcoming and modelling a positive attitude. If I am upset or unhappy, I seek support from a manager or colleague rather than moaning. I don’t spread rumours or gossip. Orpheus recognises that individual wellbeing sometimes needs support and will provide workplace wellbeing support and advice. BOLDNESS We campaign together on agreed themes, being brave and enabling. We hold each other to account and give timely feedback when standards are not met. We do not avoid difficult conversations but have them with kindness and respect. We give and receive feedback kindly and respectfully. We look for facts rather than acting on emotions. We set each other stretching and achievable targets. INCLUSIVITY We are ambitious for young disabled people. We seek routes around obstacles to young disabled people achieving their ambitions. We work hard to make all our spaces accessible for all. We communicate effectively both verbally and non-verbally. When new people join us we welcome them warmly, help them to settle quickly, advocate for them, and support their achievements. We respect differences. We don’t leave anyone behind RESILIENCE When a challenge occurs, we face it together and work out as a team how to overcome it. When life is difficult, we don’t give up, but we seek support and look for ways to learn from the experience. We can rely on our colleagues to adapt and work with us. We are not stuck in our ways but open to ideas. We plan ahead in all areas of the organisation: Funding and student numbers Physical space requirements Staffing DETERMINATION We can describe our organisational strategy and we plan our activity to fulfil it. We know there will be challenges, but when our organisation is obstructed, we seek support and have each other’s backs. When work is difficult, we don’t withdraw, give up or lose our temper. We don’t respond in a hot-headed or emotional way. We do seek support from our managers and colleagues to get the job done well. We recognise that challenges build our experience and enable us to learn and develop. We are professional. Manage Cookie Preferences
