Who we are Our impact Thomas Thomas flung open the door and announced with great excitement, “I’m going to be Fagin!” He had been cast in a leading role in the Orpheus Christmas production, Oliver!, and just couldn’t wait to share the news. Thomas is a third year Orpheus Student. He is a brilliant showman with a great sense of theatre and is something of a perfectionist when it comes to performing. When Thomas first came to Orpheus he was awkward and shy. As a result, he sometimes felt anxious and withdrawn. During his time here, Thomas has learnt how to cope with the anxiety and stress related to his autism and has transformed into a confident young man. He is learning how to express how he feels to his fellow students and deal with difficult situations. The ability to express himself creatively has been an important catalyst for his confidence, which saw him wowing audiences in Oliver! and other Orpheus productions. Please know that each and every one of you has made so many people’s lives vastly richer through what you do and who you are. We look back on just Tom's journey and since this time last year you have helped him to find his way in managing so many situations… it’s hard for me to adequately express the impact of what Orpheus has done to enrich his life and consequently ours as a family. - Ali Puttock, Thomas’ Mum Click here to read Polly's story.
