The Orpheus Centre is an independent specialist College in Godstone, Surrey. We focus on developing independence skills through performing and visual arts and make dramatic improvements to young disabled adults’ lives. 

Set up by musician and songwriter Sir Richard Stilgoe, Orpheus offers learning, supported housing and personal care all on the same site in Godstone, Surrey.  We showcase what Orpheus students can offer in the workplace and we challenge the barriers to employment faced by some disabled people.

We are currently seeking a self-motivated, skilled and experienced Student Funding and MIS Officer to manage the daily operations of student funding and to manage the process for funding students at Orpheus including making adaptations as and when necessary in respect of assessments and internal processes.

This role is vital to ensuring the success of our young people and the organisation and to supporting the provision of an effective and efficient student funding service covering education, domiciliary care and supported housing.

28 hours per week [0.8 FTE] / 52 weeks per year 
(hours may be altered on occasions according to the needs of the curriculum and organisation)

Salary: £28,567.91 (FTE £35,709.89)

Essential qualifications, knowledge and experience:

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs A-C or equivalent including Maths and English
  • Management qualification at level 5 or equivalent
  • Minimum of two years’ experience of working in a Funding role in an education setting, preferably with a focus on students with disabilities 
  • Experience of working with and negotiating with Local Authorities on funding and contractual arrangements 
  • Understanding of effective utilisation of resources
  • Willingness to maintain and update personal specialist skills and knowledge through engaging with appropriate professional development activities and training
  • Knowledge of activities and education leading to achievement and success
  • Flexibility when working with students and staff and in attending events in the evenings and where necessary at other times
  • Excellent computer literacy and administrative skills
  • Analytical and report writing skills
  • Innovative and creative 
  • Ability to create internal learning and development plan and resources 
  • Flexibility to work with a range of stakeholders
  • Ability to work well in a team and foster good relationships within a multi-disciplinary work force.
