The Orpheus Centre, a leading specialist charity and college in Godstone Surrey, is thrilled to announce that it has been shortlisted for three Natspec (National Association of Specialist Colleges) awards in recognition of their innovative practice. The entries highlight the college’s continued success and its dedication to the young disabled adults they support.
The awards include:
- Curriculum innovation: Who Am I? Using modern project-based learning this project asks learners to discover how they can describe themselves to show their value to others.
- Innovation in student voice award: Student Safeguarding Ambassadors. An initiative where two student Safeguarding Ambassadors provide the safeguarding team with greater insight into the trends and challenges that our current students are facing.
- Innovative routes into employment: Unexpected Leaders A collaborative project with Diverse City who provided leadership training for people who might not usually be recognised for their leadership potential within the arts sector.
“We are incredibly honoured to be shortlisted for these three awards,” said Chloe Smith, Principal at Orpheus. “These nominations are a testament to the unwavering dedication of our passionate and driven team at Orpheus, as we strive to innovate in specialist education. We are excited to continue our mission of delivering exceptional education and support, empowering our students to live independently, secure meaningful employment, and confidently take their place in society.”
The Natspec award ceremony will take place online on Thursday 27 March from 13:30pm – 3:00pm. Orpheus looks forward to celebrating with fellow nominees, while continuing to be an outstanding college for the students.
