Our biggest appeal to date

There’s a magic at Orpheus you won’t find anywhere else

Watch a young person who’s been told “no” their entire life step onto our stage and sing fearlessly. See parents witness their child  becoming an adult exceeding every expectation society set for them. This is the Orpheus magic – and we need your help to multiply it. Right now, we’re turning away young disabled adults who desperately our support.

We’re outstanding despite our buildings – imagine what’s possible with your help.

The students achieve extraordinary things whilst navigating:

  • Heavy doors that won’t open easily
  • Inaccessible spaces that limit independence
  • Outdated facilities that constrain rather than liberate

We’re officially rated Outstanding. But our buildings are holding back the magic.

Your gift will transform:

  • Local impact can turn into national transformation
  • A community café and venue where our students gain real employment
  • Thousands and more young lives transformed
  • Makeshift spaces will become purpose-built excellence
  • A fully accessible theatre, studios and teaching spaces designed for disabled creatives
  • A teaching college spreading the Orpheus way across the UK
  • Hidden talent can transform into visible careers

Hear from our students and supporters

Orpheus delivers more than education – it changes the odds. Because every young disabled person deserves the same chances as their peers. The chance to learn, to work, to love, to laugh, to fail, to succeed, to surprise everyone – including themselves.

Every time I did something that improved my skills. I would say being at Orpheus and the help with my career was fabulous!

29%

compared to the national average of 4.8% of learning disabled adults employed in the uk

We started with five students in 1997

The Orpheus Centre opened in 1997 at Sir Richard’s former family home in Godstone. Surrey.

Orpheus originally started with just five disabled students who lived on-site, learning to cook, manage budgets, do laundry and go shopping.
