Disability and arts News and blogs #Andrew Big congratulations to our student, Andrew, who won Dance Personality of the Year at the One Dance UK Awards! See him in action here performing in the fabulous #I AM film. There has been a lot of press and social media interest in #Andrew since his appearance on BBC One’s The Greatest Dancer reality show. So what has he been up to other than studying hard here at college of course! The list is long: Andrew’s next performance after the show saw him dancing the waltz with a professional ballroom dancer at Sadler's Wells at the end of June, in a performance with Stepchange Dance. He then took part in London Dance Company's summer project of Fame at the Leatherhead Theatre. This involved five performances and lots of rehearsals. During the summer holidays Andrew stayed away from the family home for the first time for an entire week at Roehampton University with the British Youth Musical Theatre. in just a week they put together a performance of Michael Morpurgo's - Where The Whales Came - Andrew played the Spirit of the Isle. He has also danced in two Orpheus charity events arranged by our long standing volunteer Ann Lovelace and performed with the Orpheus Dance Performance group in Lost Boy at the Lingfield Race Day and then again at U Dance at the Southbank Centre. Andrew was invited to perform at a charity launch of Think 18 - https://www.think18.org.uk/, judged a talent show at a school in Cardiff as well as played football in a charity match against Hollyoaks actors in Nottingham with his friend Tom from TGD. He was asked to perform at Mousetrap Theatre Projects awards ceremony https://mousetrap.org.uk/index.php/young-people/the-mousetrap-awards.html as well as take a dance class (with Imogen our dance tutor) and talk to young adults with Down’s Syndrome at the Down's Syndrome Association. Well done Andrew!
