On Saturday 23rd February, 12 students visited the University of Bedfordshire to take part in the ISTD inclusive dance research seminar, Springboard 2019.

The aim of this exciting research project was to determine how the ISTD dance syllabus for ballet, modern and Latin / Ballroom dance can be adapted to suit the needs of young dancers with disabilities.  This is ground-breaking research which hopes to provide greater opportunity to access dance, develop technique, and progress within Western theatre dance training.

The students had a great day and did Orpheus proud! They behaved and performed beautifully, both in the Latin and Ballroom dance demonstration, and their performance of ‘Lost Boy’.

It’s certainly an exciting time of change in syllabus dance studies and we hope to collaborate further with the ISTD as they build on conclusions from this first phase of inclusive dance research.
