Orpheus has a very accessible physical environment. All teaching and communal spaces at Orpheus are on the ground floor and are wheelchair accessible and we have electric doors with motion sensors.
The majority of self-contained flats at Orpheus are on the ground floor, although we do have a small amount of flats on the first floor which can be accessed both by stairs and a lift. All our flats are spacious and accessible with electric doors; they all have wet rooms and many are fitted with overhead hoists.
We produce accessible literature and often use pictures to communicate important information. Students communicate in a variety of ways that include sign language, Makaton, communication books and electronic aids. Staff and volunteers receive training where appropriate.
