The Orpheus Centre

Volunteers

The running of the centre could not happen without our strong support network of volunteers; working with the students, helping maintain the grounds as well as Front of House and box office during our performances. Coming from all around the local area and from all around the globe, Orpheus currently has a network of over 60 regular volunteers.

We also have our enabling scheme for younger volunteers on short term weekly placements, working alongside our students and associate artists in our acclaimed performances.

We are currently specifically looking for volunteers for:

GARDENING including maintaining flower beds, maintaining lawns with the sit on mower / DECORATING / CARPENTRY

Students & volunteers at OrpheusThere are plenty of ways you can get involved in volunteering at The Orpheus Centre:

Short Term Volunteering Opportunities - The Orpheus Centre offers a range of short term volunteering opportunities that match the Duke of Edinburgh Awards or for school work experience programmes.

Local Regular Volunteers - We also offer ongoing opportunities. Again, these opportunities are extremely flexible and you can become involved in any aspect of the Centre from driving, lunch time support, administration, gardening, DIY, reading, performing arts, leisure activies support and backstage/directing work.

Gap Year Students - The Orpheus Centre is offering young people the chance to come and live and work at the Centre for a year and get involved in all aspects of our work. All overseas students come to the Centre via I.C.Y.E.

Our Gap Year Students have proved invaluable to The Orpheus Centre.  Each year we look forward to welcoming another 4 young people, who will come and live with us and share in the lives of our physically disabled young adults. It is wonderful to learn about their country and culture and to try to speak their particular language! They also bring a huge variety of talent and skills i.e. music, singing, acting, IT etc to share with us at our performing arts centre. In return we hope we give them a unique experience in our performing arts centre and that they benefit from taking part in our live performances and shows, in our own Barn Theatre and external venues across the country.

To find out more about becoming a volunteer, please call our Volunteer co-ordinator on 01883 744664 or send a message via the contact form

Please note that we carry out CRB checks on all volunteers, which can take up to 6 weeks to process.
